F-R-R-R-iday!

It’s tough being sick and being a mommy at the same time. Especially when your little one is sick, too. Quinn shared his cold with me, so the snot level in our house doubled over the last week. And we all know that sick babies have a hard time sleeping, so that means mommy doesn’t get any sleep either. (So, friends and family, I apologize for not returning phone calls lately. You see, I am a zombie.)

From all the blowing and wiping and sniffling, Q and I have matching red noses. While my Rudolf nose is quite festive, is certainly not attractive. Not unlike a hideous holiday sweater. Except it’s on my face.

Luckily, we're both on the mend, and I’m predicting better sleep for everyone tonight. At least we got this yuckiness out of the way before Christmas, right? Here are the R’s.

Recap

On Monday, Quinn met Santa Claus in this week’s QWA.

On Tuesday, I wrote another letter to LBK in honor of his first Christmas and turning a whopping nine months old.

In this week’s Not-So-Wordy Wednesday, you saw the outtakes of a disastrous group photo attempt.

Thursday, I finished up all the wrapping, and I’m now ready to move on to the yummy part of Christmas!

Referral

This week’s super awesome blogger referral is Alexandra (a.k.a. “The Empress”) from Good Day, Regular People. This blogger cracks my ass up! I mean, you’d expect nothing less from a blog with a name like that, right? Alexandra’s empire is made up of three lively boys, so there’s the fodder for her hilarity right there. Her youngest boy takes over every Monday and writes his own posts. Isn’t that awesome?

Good Day, Regular PeopleWhat’s it like being the only woman in her empire? Like this. Laugh along with her because I’m sure her story resembles your own! Check out her short series called “When Someone You Love Has a Blog.” If you’re a blogger, you’ll find it hysterical. If you’re the spouse of a blogger, maybe not so much. She’s nice enough to have all her best posts listed out to get you started, but don’t stop there. This one is one of my favorites and should be on that list.

I’m not the only one who thinks Alexandra is a hoot and a half. She’s the 2011 Blogher Voice of the Year for humor. Take a stroll through her empire this weekend, and I’m sure you’ll see why.

Rewind

Quinn made a place for himself before he was even born. On Christmas night 2010, I washed up the tiny baby clothes I had received so far, neatly folded them up and placed them in the baby’s brand new dresser. The room was just starting to look like a nursery last Christmas. Now, Q’s formerly pristine nursery is very much lived in! 2011 has gone by ridiculously fast.

Tune in next week!

But only on Monday. That’s right. I’m taking a bloggy break next week. I’ll tell you all about it on Monday, but that will be the last you’ll hear from me for a week. Hey, I heard that sigh of relief! Just kidding.

Have a great weekend, friends! Happy holidays!
